FAMUfest in the name of digital revolution

People speak about cinema digitization and HD and similar things. Producers of FAMUfestu have taken it this year without hesitation, they bought terabyte harddrives and came asking it all in computer files. During three weeks in the Studio we captured uncompressed video from Digibeta tapes, where the contributions from the authors were collected and which will be used for classical archiving. We cutted, encoded into Apple ProRes, sorted, made chaos, added what people brought on harddrives directly from editing rooms, encoded again, and deinterlaced. The result is 900GB of films in master quality, which are in Archa theatre put into blocks in broadcasting software, info about widescreen aspect is added and the projections can start.

Part of it all is a HD section where 4 films will be screened in the resolution of 1920x1080 and it is totally another cup of tea and before something like this was not able at all.

The taste will be enriched by digitized films from the 60 years history of FAMU - 60s, 70s. and 80s - Vasulka, Jakubisko, luxury pieces.

Now just pray not to be messed up it all, no jerky fucked-up pixels running around to make it chaser of the decade :-)
